Prayers for Paw Paw Perret

Posted by Mauree Brooksher at 10:48 AM

Many already know this, but some of you may not my mother is one of ten. I am one of 27 grandchildren and Christopher is one of 5 great grand children on the Perret side of our family. I am not quite sure where to begin this post but I think the greatest place is to request your prayer for the Perret family. The reason I am requesting prayer is for my grandparents, specifically my grandfather whom we call Paw Paw. Paw Paw has always been incredibly sharp, funny, and faithful! He has been an incredible father & grandfather to us all. Christopher's middle names is Camille which is also Paw Paw's middle name. We went to into Lafayette yesterday to visit him. We went for Rosary. My grandparents pray the rosary every Sunday @ 4:30 PM. Still to this day they pray it & all of the family joins them to pray. Paw Paw's physical health has taken a rapid decline since November. Paw Paw's wife, our Maw Maw has the early stages of dementia as well. Please also pray for their 10 children who are supporting them with unconditional love & taking incredible care of them daily! My aunts & uncles, especially my mother who is the only nurse in the family have made several sacrifices to care for them over the past year. Until this point, my mother has taken them both to the doctor as needed, my aunts & uncles have run errands for them and stayed with them several nights of the week, and they have done SO much more. A few days ago they all agreed that the best thing for my grandfather was to have him placed under the care of Hospice of Acadiana. This way my grandfather no longer has to get out to go to the doctor. Like I said before this has been a rapid decline. We do not know the time or the exact path the Lord will take my grandfather in the coming days, weeks, or months but we trust that the good Lord is watching over him every step of the way. My godmother wrote a beautiful reflection to the family yesterday that I'd like to share:
Good Evening Everyone,
I went to church today and Father Trahan spoke about Jesus' father, Joseph. He went on to talk about parents being examples to their children and grandchildren. He gave the example of if a FATHER prays the rosary that this may instil in his CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN to do so too. He emphasized how important it was to continue positive faith tradiitions. He even apolized for sounding like he was scolding parents but that he just noticed a decline in young children being brought to church. The Rosary today was led by Teeny, Steven, Andre, Natalie and Mauree. If Father was grading Mom and Dad on faith traditions I know without a doubt that they would score 100. They might even get bonus points for having three great grandchildren present too. I noticed how mom did not follow by using the beads on her Rosary but throughout the whole Rosary rubbed her thumb up and down over the crucifix. I know she was thinking about Dad. This morning while Beth and Hank were tending to Dad, Mom was sitting in the living room in her chair quietly listening to the monitor to how they were caring for him. You would have also scored a 100 on care. When I went to talk to Dad he wanted to know where Mom, his girlfriend was. I told him she was in the kitchen eating breakfast. He said that's a good place to eat. After she ate she stayed seated not saying anything. Beth asked if I knew where a picture of Padre Pio was, she immediately said there is one right behind me above the microwave. She is with us on this journey.
We love you Maw Maw & Paw Paw!
Much Love & Many Blessings,
Mauree
