Go State, My First Fair, & MOOO...My First Halloween!

Posted by Mauree Brooksher at 7:31 PM 0 comments

What a perfect fun Fall weekend! Friday we joined with much of the Perret Family at the PMAC. We went to watch my first cousin, Paris play volleyball for Mississippi State vs. LSU! Christopher loved looking around at all the action; however, the band was SO loud that I had to position my fingers on his little ears to block the sound! We then went to my first cousin, Lauren's house for gumbo. Christopher met may aunts, uncles, and cousins for the first time. This weekend was the good ole' annual St. Aloysius Fair. We spent our whole Saturday there. Christopher had a ball! We got to visit with many friends, play Bingo, and of course eat great fair food. Our Uncle Nic injured himself on the playground at recess while playing soccer (hence, the orange cast). He's is doing very well and making a rather speedy recovery. For Christopher's first Halloween he wore Papa's very first Halloween costume. Papa & I decided to dress up like cows with him, at the very last minute. We went over to our friend Mr. Ken's for gumbo & to greet many trick-o-treaters. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend full of family fun. So much so, that Christopher is sacked out in his car seat still in his cow costume from head to toe!

16 Weeks Old & a Wonderful Weekend!

Posted by Mauree Brooksher at 7:01 PM 0 comments

We have had a busy but fun-filled weekend! Last night we went down-town to Life After 5 with the Romero's. I think Christopher & Magdalene thoroughly enjoyed their date night! This morning we went for a family stroll in the neighborhood. While strolling a man stopped us to look at his butterfly garden. I must say Christopher and I have strolled right past this garden at least 5 times and never knew what it was all about. I just thought this home had an overgrown yard that needed some help. Little did I know! The owner of this home has created a garden specifically for butterflies to enjoy! It is a registered National Wildlife Certified Habitat. It's called "Na-Papen" meaning beautiful butterfly. The owner had us take Christopher out of the stroller to walk around and to look closely at the butterflies. There were tons! It was really a beautiful experience in nature today.

Sunshine

My sweet friend Laura Lindsey is a wonderful artist. She is also a precious & sweet person. She is so full of joy that she is also known as, Sunshine! She is the mother of 4 (with one on the way)! I met her when I taught in St. Francisville. I taught her daughter, Betsy. Sunshine painted a painting for Christopher's nursery. She painted what she calls her "Alleluia Bird". It's a painting with a joyful meaning. Alleluia meaning, Praise be to God and the momma bird with her eggs is a sign of new life. How fitting right! We certainly sing praise to God for our little new life, Christopher! Thank you Sunshine! We will treasure it always!

Well Baby Christopher sure did! My sweet neighbor and friend, Mary Beth took Christopher's 3 month photos. She is a photographer in Baton Rouge; however, we took these at her home. Christopher was quite the little model for Mary Beth. Enjoy!

Scrub a dub in a tub!

We bathed Christopher for the 1st time in his baby tub! In the hospital they taught us how to bathe him in his incubator with just a bowl of water, thick paper towels, and Johnson & Johsnsons! Therefore, when we returned home we continued the routine at home, on his changing table. We decided since he's getting so big we'd expose him to a little more water! As you can tell from the pictures he did not find it so enjoyable! Hopefully, he will get used to it.

Pic Nic at the Parade Grounds

Today we took our first family pic nic! We went to the LSU Parade Grounds. We used our precious pic nic basket which Steven & I received as a wedding gift. We also brought along our stroller. We ate first & enjoyed the GORGEOUS weather & then went for a stroll throughout LSU's campus. It was so nice just to enjoy the Fall weather!

Christopher attended his first LSU Tailgate on Saturday! LSU played TN; therefore, my dad's family (from Memphis) came in for the game. Christopher was able to meet his Uncle David, Aunt Sallie, and cousin Rebecca. Beezie, Sport, Justin, Mr. Randy (Justin's dad), Nat, Mary Claire, and Jacob were all in town too. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the Fall weather!

Happy 3 Months Old Birthday!

Posted by Mauree Brooksher at 2:53 PM 0 comments

Christopher is officially 3 months old today! We've had quite an exciting month of milestones I'd say! Christopher is now 11 lbs! He is now smiling and notices Papa & I's voices. He loves to look at his my face & study my features. Christopher is growing out of several New Born outfits : ( This is happy & sad! It feels like yesterday everything was just too big! In the picture above he wore his first pant/sweater outfit! It was a gift from Nordstrom's and it's precious! We took the pic in the middle of some pumpkins I made. He loves going on stroller rides. We stroll once a week with my friend, Jessica & his friend Sean Patrick as well as Lauren and baby Magdalene. We have also started attending Stroller Fit classes on MWF & we LOVE them (esp. me). He is gaining much more strength in his upper body to pick his head up. He loves to sit in the Bumbo seat & look at Eric Carle books. And our biggest stride is his sleeping pattern at night! He nows goes to bed at about 9 & sleeps for 8 hours! We are working on sleeping in his crib. At bedtime Christopher takes a bottle, we read I Love You Forever, and say our night time prayers. He is still sleeping in the Rock N Sleeper in Papa & I's room. We are heading to Christopher's first wedding tonight. In closing, today is also the Feast Day of St. Therese of Lisieux. A very special Saint in deed who has interceded for many of my prayers indeed. Here is special quote of hers that I hope Christopher will come to believe: " To call God my Father and to know myself His child, that is Heaven to me..."
